For my final lesson, I taught my fellow interns in my class at Hinsdale Central High School about the pros and cons of year-round schooling. I began with a lecture accompanied by a powerpoint that showed the main arguments for and against the United States schooling system being changed to year-round schooling. I then divided the students into groups and gave each group a sheet describing a type of year-round schooling calendar and had each group present while the other groups took notes. To wrap up, I had a few discussion questions and an exit slip to see if they understood. For their homework, I assigned a padlet with two questions to get them thinking about how these schooling options could actually be used, maybe in their own school.
